Feral plants as material and a tool of community care. An interview with designer Gaja Mežnarić Osole
Notweed Paper emerged from feral plants growing through the cracks of Ljubljana’s urban landscape. Behind the transformation of this ambiguous site is the Krater collective. What began in 2020 as a nomadic experiment has since evolved into a longer-term project—a living space where culture, community, and nature intertwine to produce tangible results. The paper-making process tells a story of resilience, regeneration, and care. Located on previously neglected public land, this production hub not only supports the local community but also explores the potential of invasive plant species.
